The Wellness Edit: Chloe Bruderer

Chloe Bruderer is part of the content and community team at Tezza, where she helps shape the brand’s creative world. She’s happiest with a coffee in hand on a slow morning, loves playing with new makeup looks, and finds her calm reading outside or swimming as the day winds down. Here, she talks about the routines, inspirations, and little joys that keep her feeling grounded and creative.

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

- I’m one of those coffee first thing in the morning people. Well the first thing I really do is get woken up by a kiss from my dog (she’s the best alarm) because she’s ready to eat. I’ll feed her on my way to start the coffee. I’m pretty strict about not even glancing at my phone, though.

One small ritual you never skip?

- Does coffee count? My morning cup is truly so important to me, it’s my favorite part of my day. I always drink it outside with a book (or sweet, sweet silence) and just enjoy the quiet.

I used to journal and day dream in the morning about all the things I wanted one day, and things I wanted to accomplish. Now I take a more meditative approach, and simply enjoy what’s directly in front of me. Unless I have a crazy dream that takes over my thoughts all morning, ha!

Your workout time: AM or PM?

-  I usually work out in the mornings because my favorite workout classes are in the morning, but I actually prefer a PM workout. It makes me more tired for bed, I can completely turn off my work brain for the day, and go for a swim after, when it’s summer. PM workouts are so underrated.

What’s your current obsession?

- Makeup! I don’t wear much, but I used to wear nothing until the past year or so. I’m having fun learning how to wear lip liner, starting to wear blush, and covering myself in glowy highlighter. I also recently dyed my eyebrows blonde and am loving how it’s looking with makeup, especially during the summer.

How do you come back to yourself when you feel off?

- I will first take a moment to realize and recognize that I feel off, embrace it, accept it, and not attach to it. I love to just ride it out until I feel better, reminding myself that it will pass. Also, cleaning up my immediate surroundings instantly makes me feel better, I feel like clutter contributes to feeling off.

What do you value most in yourself?

-  I have fun doing almost everything and anything! I can turn almost anything into a positive experience or at least a moment of growth.

One thing you’ve learned to love about your body?

-   I have a bit of vocal fry, a super scratchy voice. I get a lot of mean comments about it online, but I love that it’s so me, and makes me feel unique.

What’s your love language with yourself?

-   Acts of Service, I’m really working on being more disciplined with the small things that make my life better. Keeping up on dr. appts, keeping my car clean, avoiding procrastination, etc. This takes the most effort for me - I am usually kind to myself, I treat myself constantly, I spend a lot of time alone. But this one takes work. In a good way!

A belief or mindset that’s guiding you right now?

-    Again, thinking about how everything passes. Not getting too attached to the moments when I am feeling down or discouraged.

Finish the sentence: I feel most at home in my body when…

-   I’m in the water <3
