Lily Harris

Lily Harris believes that health is about so much more than just what’s on your plate — it’s about feeling strong, safe, and supported in your body. As a Holistic Nutrition Practitioner, she helps people tune into their own healing abilities, guiding them to build sustainable habits that feel good long-term.

In this conversation, Lily shares her thoughts on making wellness approachable, the power of small, impactful changes, and why a joyful, flexible mindset is key to any health journey.

What’s your definition of a “healthy life”?

- My definition of a healthy life is feeling strong in my body, having sustained energy, & protecting rest while being a part of the world.

What has been the biggest challenge in your personal health journey, and how did you overcome it?

- I’ve had three key challenges throughout my health journey. First was having half of my thyroid removed during college & navigating the lack of education received within Western medicine for Hashimoto’s care beyond medication. Second was my Celiac diagnosis & management around that. Third was rejoining the world with joy, pleasure, & health in mind. Ultimately, the passion I found while educating myself & caring for my body is what led me to pursue holistic nutrition as a full time job. There’s a lack of joy & a heightened level of fear within the “wellness” community & I hope to be a more supportive guiding light in others’ journeys.

What does your daily wellness routine look like? Any non-negotiables?

- If there’s one thing I love, it’s routine. Consistency is sexy! My non-negotiables start with moving my body in a way that I love. For me that’s swimming & trying other workouts around that. I’m protective of my morning routine. Beyond that, keeping my baseline strong with calm balanced meals, quality sleep, hydration, mental health support, & time with the people I love are key.

Many people struggle with health while balancing a busy career or parenthood. What are some simple ways to fit nutrition into a hectic lifestyle?

  • - My number one recommendation is to quiet the noise. There are so many “viral” opinions online when we know that sticking to the basics consistently is what leads to long term health outcomes. If you’re eating a diet filled with ultra-processed foods, do not worry about what Tik Tok has to say about cortisol.
  • - My second recommendation is to prioritize both fiber & protein! Keep multiple forms of both stocked in your home.
  • - My third is to keep it simple. Yes, it’s always fun to try a new recipe, but consistently eating basic balanced meals is key to health within a busy schedule. Not every meal has to be extravagant or trendy.

What are some of the first steps you recommend to someone just beginning their wellness journey?

- Have a playful mindset. The more you can treat health as a joyful open-minded exploration, the more sustainable it will be. The more rigid & fear-based your health journey becomes, the more likely you will be to abandon it all together.

What are some of your favorite easy and nourishing meals for busy days?

- I’m always eating leftovers! Cook more food when you have energy, so you have food when you inevitably don’t. Beyond that, I love balanced bowls loaded with mixed veggies, fermented veggies, & easy protein sources like tinned fish. My Patreon is filled with healthy meal ideas too.

What are some small, impactful changes people can make to improve their diet without feeling restricted?

- Limit ultra-processed foods! The more you can cook at home, the happier your body will be. If you read the nutrition label on a package & it’s filled with ingredients you wouldn’t buy individually in order to cook a recipe at home, it’s more like a science project or “food-like product” than food itself.

Are there any underrated superfoods that you think more people should be eating?

- Fiber in all its forms from vegetables to psyllium husk.

What’s one underrated health tip that more people should know about?

- A lot of building health is about feeling safe. How do we do that? Continuously build self-trust by showing up for yourself. The more you show up for yourself, the more confidence you will build knowing that you are capable of caring for yourself. The more confident you feel, or strong, the more safe you feel in your body. When we feel safe, we can relax & let our bodies focus on the invisible work behind the scenes, aka healing.
