In this interview, Katie shares the everyday habits that keep her grounded — from starting the day with lemon water to enjoying her favorite sourdough cookies.

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
- Make my bed!
One small ritual you never skip?
- Drinking warm water with lemon first thing in the morning (step 2 after making my bed).
Your workout time: AM or PM?
- AM always. Well, that’s a lie. AM 95% of the time. If for some reason I don’t exercise in the morning, I’ll inevitably need to burn off some steam later in the day.
What’s your current obsession?
- The sourdough chocolate chip cookies from Knead Love Bakery. If I can be so bold and say: this might be my favorite cookie in the whole world.
How do you come back to yourself when you feel off?
- I hate to say it, but it’s either going for a walk or meditation. Clichés make for the most boring answers to these sorts of questions, but unfortunately, they’re clichéd for a reason, and they pretty much cure everything.

What do you value most in yourself?
- My curiosity.
One thing you’ve learned to love about your body?
- How intuitive it is. I used to get upset by how physically sensitive I was — I’d get a stomach ache from anxiety, from any questionable food decision, from people who made me uncomfortable. Now, I (try to) see this as a gift. It’s not always my first thought, but I now have a deep appreciation for the way my body is able to communicate with my mind on such a fundamental level.
What’s your love language with yourself?
- Feeding myself fresh fruits and vegetables. It’s the simplest way I know how to feel good on a daily basis.
A belief or mindset that’s guiding you right now?
- More is not better.
Finish the sentence: I feel most at home in my body when…
- I move it!
